The key components of the engine, such as the main air flow channel components, high-pressure compressor, high-pressure and low-pressure turbine discs and blades, fuel nozzles, combustion chambers, etc., are difficult to disassemble and have poor accessibility for inspection. The inspection and monitoring of parts and components are mostly done through hole exploration technology. Therefore, hole exploration technology has always played an important role in the maintenance of aero engines, which is embodied in the following aspects.
1. Regular hole inspection. Regular inspection is usually carried out on a trouble-free aircraft. Before the start of the work, you should refer to the latest borehole survey report and understand the technical condition of the engine, and then inspect it area by area according to the work order.
2. Inspection after emergencies. Emergencies refer to the engine being super stable, surging, foreign objects found, foreign objects hitting the intake duct, abnormal parameters, etc.
Endoscopic inspection is mostly aimed at a certain part of the inspection. Before work, you should understand the cause of the failure in detail, carefully analyze the damaged part, and work out the working procedures with the relevant technicians to ensure that the inspection is not missed.
3. Fault monitoring. Common engine defects can be divided into three categories: negligible defects; defects in the transitional stage, that is, defects that do not affect flight safety, but if the defects develop, they will endanger flight safety; defects that exceed the standard and require replacement of the engine. The first type of defect is the most common, but the second type of defect is more common in engines that have been used for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly monitor the fault status of the engine before changing the engine, and control the length of the periodic inspection as needed until the defect exceeds the standard.
In combination with the above applications, the detected damage must be evaluated accordingly to determine the type and degree of damage. The correct damage assessment can reduce maintenance costs and costs, increase the number of cycles, and provide a basis for determining the regular inspection cycle to ensure the normal use of the engine during the inspection cycle.
